Silver Jackets: What’s New and What’s Next?
Wed. 9:45 a.m to 10:45 a.m., Interlocken C
Silver Jackets interagency state-led teams bring together federal, state, local, and tribal partners to learn and to act to reduce flood risk and vulnerability to other natural hazards. This program was initiated as a result of discussions between the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Federal Emergency Management Agency. The first two pilot Silver Jackets teams were formed in 2005 and 2006, while the initiative was launched more broadly in 2008. Today, Silver Jackets teams exist in almost every state in the nation. This session will update participants on the accomplishments of the Silver Jackets initiative and engage audience members around next steps for team initiatives and measuring and monitoring success.
