Understanding Multi-Hazard Risks Across the Nation

A Collaboration of the U.S. Department of the Interior and the U.S. Geological Survey

Wed. 9:45 to 10:45 a.m., Interlocken A

The U.S. Geological Survey and the U.S. Department of the Interior (DOI) Office of Emergency Management recently collaborated to assess hazards-related risks to DOI staff, visitors, facilities, infrastructure, land, revenue, and cultural and natural resources. The assessment included meteorological, geophysical, and hydrological hazards as well as technological accidents, adversarial actions, and environmental health threats. The ultimate goal of the collaboration—which includes geospatial analysis of a broad suite of hazards and asset data—is to provide baseline knowledge of multi-hazard exposure across the nation.
