Floods, Drought, and Water Resource Management
Mon. 3:30 to 5:00 p.m., Spruce
Living with water, either too much or too little, is a problem that many communities face. Finding solutions to manage this vital resource requires the coordination of people across sectors, with a variety of needs and interests, to keep people safe. This session will bring together diverse stakeholders who are working to address issues related to the river system in Colorado—including recreation, development, flood risk awareness, riparian habitat, and other watershed issues. Panelists will also discuss how to educate the public about the potentially negative impacts of living near waterways, with an emphasis on flood hazard risk awareness and mitigation.
