Zurich Flood Resilience Alliance: A Prototype for Multisector Collaboration

Mon. 1:30 to 3:00 p.m., Centennial E

Floods affect more people globally than any other type of natural hazard. Nonetheless, flood resilience work remains siloed—researcher, practitioner, business, and advocacy communities don't work together often enough. Over the years, however, the Zurich Flood Resilience Alliance has served as a prototype for how these diverse sectors can effectively collaborate. Join this panel as members of this group share how they’ve managed to bring traditionally disparate sectors together. As the panelists will discuss, this has been a challenging and fruitful endeavor that has required consistent relationship building, willingness to acknowledge different incentive structures, and significant investment in systems of collaboration, co-design of the program, and co-measurement of impact.
