Implementation of the Disaster Recovery Reform Act

Tue. 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. MDT

The Disaster Recovery Reform Act is focused on increasing mitigation investments before disasters to incentivize building stronger communities. It offers higher reimbursement rates for states to respond after disaster, improves post-disaster housing recovery options, and expands individual assistance to those impacted. The panelists will focus on a key element of the DRRA, which is the ongoing development and roll out of the Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC) program, to include perspectives from federal, state and local government; academic research; and a comparative assessment of hazard mitigation programs in New Zealand.
