Alondra Chamorro

Alondra Chamorro is an associate professor in the Department of Construction Engineering and Management at the School of Engineering of Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile and Principal Investigator at the Research Center for Integrated Disaster Risk Management (CIGIDEN). She is a civil engineer, holds a master's degree from Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile, and holds a PhD in civil engineering from the University of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. Her areas of specialization include road engineering, infrastructure management, and risk and resilience of infrastructure exposed to natural events. She has participated in research projects of the World Bank, Ministry of Transportation of Ontario Canada, Fondef R&D, Fondef Idea, Fondef VIU, Fondecyt Initiation, Corfo technological innovation, among others.
Chamorro is currently the director of a project on risk management and mitigation of natural events that affect road networks, and a project to assess the socio-economic impacts of natural events affecting road networks and drinking water systems.
Chamorro has published in various referenced journals, is co-author of World Bank technical publications on road infrastructure assessment technologies, and co-author of a publication produced for the World Road Association on rural road accessibility.
