Jenny Burmester works in the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Headquarters with the National Mitigation Planning Program. State, local, tribal, and territorial governments engage in mitigation planning to reduce risks from future natural hazards. Prior to joining FEMA, she worked in the private sector performing solid waste management and environmental planning as well as evaluating potential environmental liabilities. Burmester holds a Master of Planning from the University of Virginia and a Bachelor of Science from the College of William and Mary. She enjoys travel, walking, nature, reading, and kayaking.
