Laura Myers

Laura Myers is a senior research scientist and director of Resiliency at the Alabama Center for Insurance Information and Research at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. Her research areas are disaster and emergency management and planning, severe weather warning improvement, and risk communication. Her major products include the development and implementation of a regional emergency planning model for use by community partners resulting in studies on the public’s response to severe weather events in the Southeast, Hurricane Ian, Hurricane Michael, and the Montecito, California debris flows, a stakeholder strategic planning analysis for the Alabama Emergency Management Agency, and a climate change adaptation planning study for Wind River Indian Reservation in Wyoming.
