Mark Lindberg joined the staff of the Margaret A. Cargill Philanthropies in June 2010 as director of its Disaster Relief and Recovery domain.
Lindberg brings a wide variety of experiences to his work at the Philanthropies. Before joining the Philanthropies, Lindberg was director of operations and international programs for the Medtronic Foundation in Minneapolis. There, he developed and formalized Medtronic’s global giving programs, focusing on disaster relief and the evolving impact of chronic diseases on developing countries.
Lindberg previously worked for six years as a senior program officer at the Otto Bremer Foundation in St. Paul, Minnesota. He developed the foundation’s Organizational Effectiveness Program, focusing on immigrant and refugee communities and civic engagement.
Lindberg has also worked as a country director (Papua New Guinea) and associate general counsel for the Peace Corps (Washington, D.C.). Lindberg was also a Peace Corps volunteer in Papua New Guinea.
In 2006-07, Lindberg attended the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University as an Archibald Bush Leadership Fellow, where he obtained a master’s degree in public administration. Lindberg earned his Juris Doctor from William Mitchell College of Law and a bachelor’s in business administration from the University of Minnesota. Lindberg also studied at Georgetown University’s Kennedy School of Ethics for a year as a Shriver Peace Worker fellow.
