Data for a Hazard Ready Nation
Monday, July 14, 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. MDT
Location: Centennial F
A robust understanding of past and potential future hazard impacts is needed for effective disaster management. Yet at a national scale, consistent and standardized data on the economic and human costs of geohazards is limited. The U.S. Geological Survey’s Hazard Ready Nation initiative aims to improve understanding of losses and impacts linked to earthquakes, landslides, volcanic eruptions, and coastal change across the United States. Panelists will share how they access and use disaster data to inform preparedness, mitigation, and response activities, demonstrate successful data application, and highlight areas where data are still needed.
