Networking Roundtable: Community-Led Solutions for Compounding, Complex, and Cascading Disasters

Sunday, July 13, 3:45 to 5:00 p.m. MDT
Location: Centennial E

The overlap of the COVID-19 pandemic with storms like Hurricanes Laura, Delta, Zeta, and Ida on the Gulf Coast led to an upsurge in mutual aid and recovery efforts led by diverse community leaders and volunteers. The Disaster Justice Network (DJN) emerged from this moment to uplift and strengthen that approach. During this roundtable, DJN organizers and their partners will share more about projects they’ve supported—from Lahaina Fire recovery to Indigenous-led climate change research in Alaska, Hawai'i, Louisiana, and Puerto Rico. The intent of this roundtable is to spark further conversations and strategies to help communities build their own visions for a disaster resilient future.
