Amir Behzadan

Amir Behzadan is a professor of Civil Engineering and a faculty fellow at the Institute of Behavioral Science at the University of Colorado Boulder. He received a PhD in civil engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, in 2008. Amir is the Director of the Connected Informatics and Built Environment Research Lab, where researchers aim at investigating grand challenges at the intersection of technology, society, and built/natural environments (including disaster resilience, climate change adaptation, and occupational safety and health) through the design, validation, and dissemination of human-centered, responsible, and affordable Artificial Intelligence (AI)/Machine Learning solutions. His research and scholarly activities are supported by the federal government, state agencies, and the private sector. Amir has (co-)authored more than 150 peer-reviewed publications (books, book chapters, journal articles, and conference papers) and delivered a 2022 TEDx Talk on how AI can help communities better understand flood risk. He is a 2009 American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Excellence in Civil Engineering Education Fellow and serves on the editorial board of the ASCE Journal of Construction Engineering and Management.
