Andrew Makdisi

Andrew Makdisi is a research civil engineer at the United States Geological Survey (USGS) Geologic Hazards Science Center in Golden, Colorado, specializing in seismic hazard and risk characterization and mitigation. His work at the survey focuses primarily on probabilistic modeling and forecasting of earthquake-induced liquefaction ground failure hazards, the integration of USGS earthquake hazard and risk science into risk mitigation policy through building codes and seismic design guidelines, and research aimed at engineering-oriented improvements to the USGS National Seismic Hazard Model.
