Brittany Giles-Jones has over fifteen years of experience working across sectors in academia, talent management, live production development, and emergency management. While working as the Assistant Managing Director of the Drama Division at The Juilliard School, Giles-Jones was inspired by the school’s motto “Artist as Citizen,” which encourages everyone to make a major impact in their communities, as well as the world, and decided to use her experience and skills to pursue a career in emergency management.

As a doctoral student at Clark Atlanta University, Giles-Jones focuses on Understanding Historical Inequities in Disaster Planning and Response. Upon completion, her mission is to utilize her doctorate, professional emergency management experience, and higher education administration experience to advance Emergency and Disaster Management programs and curriculum opportunities at Historically Black Colleges and Universities, Tribal Colleges and Universities, Minority Serving Institutions, and Women’s Colleges and Universities.

Giles-Jones earned a Master of Public Administration in emergency & disaster management from the Metropolitan College of New York and a Bachelor of Liberal Studies in Interdisciplinary Studies from Boston University. She is a proud member of Epsilon Pi Phi National Honor Society and Pi Alpha Alpha Global Honor Society. Giles-Jones is a current William Averette Anderson Fund (Bill Anderson Fund) fellow and Mercatus Center fellow. Additionally, she has served on the FEMA Higher Education Symposium Planning Committee and as the Historically Black Colleges & Universities Special Interest Group Co-lead. Professional and service memberships include the International Association of Emergency Managers, Black Emergency Managers Association International, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated, and Actors' Equity Association
