Daphne S. LaDue is a senior research scientist at the University of Oklahoma's Center for Analysis and Prediction of Storms. Much of her current research focuses on how emergency managers and other local officials use weather forecasts to make decisions prior to severe weather. She developed a tabletop exercise method to elicit their roles, responsibilities, and decision-making considerations and is collaborating on developing a tool by which National Weather Service meteorologists can provide more consistent and tailored support for them. She primarily employs qualitative methods, including unstructured and semi-structured interviews and participant observation, for much of her work. She has also employed critical incident interviews, talk-aloud protocols, and other cognitive task analysis/decision protocols.
