Jeannette Torrents, Professional Engineer, Structural Engineer, is the technical director of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE)’s Structural Engineering Institute (SEI). A licensed Professional Structural Engineer in Alaska, Hawaii, and Idaho, and a licensed Professional Engineer in Colorado, Maryland, Ohio, and Washington, Torrents led the structural engineering department of JVA, Incorporated prior to joining ASCE in 2025. Torrents served as the Chair of the Structural Engineers Association of Colorado (SEAC)’s Wind Load Committee from 2011 to 2016 and has served as the Chair of the SEAC Snow Load Committee for the last sixteen years.

In her role with SEI, Torrents oversees the development of all aspects of SEI Standards, including committee work and code adoption. Her current focus is to bring the updated flood provisions from ASCE 7 Supplement 2 and ASCE 24-24 into the 2027 I-Codes, including the International Building Code, International Residential Code, International Mechanical Code, International Fuel Gas Code, International Existing Building Code, and the International Plumbing Code.
