Julie Shiyou-Woodard is the president and chief executive officer of Smart Home America, a non-profit organization working at the intersections of disaster resilience, policy, affordable housing, and insurance. Shiyou-Woodard is a subject matter expert who speaks nationwide on how to change the narrative of communities from vulnerable to resilient. Under her leadership, Smart Home America has fostered a culture of resilience by supporting local efforts to implement proven solutions to reduce disaster-related losses and insurance costs. Throughout her career, Shiyou-Woodard has developed and managed successful environmental and hazard mitigation projects and programs in collaboration with federal, state, and local governments and agencies. Shiyou-Woodard is from Pass Christian, Mississippi, and lives with her husband and two children in Mobile, Alabama.
