Matthew Van

Matthew Van is finishing his fourth year in the PhD in disaster science and management program at the University of Delaware.

Van’s current focus involves the impacts of social isolation and loneliness on the disaster preparedness of older adults. He is a graduate assistant with the University of Delaware’s Disaster Research Center.

His previous educational background includes studying biology and public affairs at the University of California, Los Angeles, medical sciences at Boston University, and emergency services administration at California State University, Long Beach. This is his third time attending the workshop in person and sixth overall.
