Mercedes Stroeve is a seasoned environmental professional with over a decade of experience addressing the causes and impacts of climate change. Her expertise spans transportation demand management, environmental policy, land conservation, and hazard mitigation. She holds a master’s in Urban Planning from the University of Southern California, where she specialized in Planning for Climate Change and Sustainability.
At the King County Office of Emergency Management, Stroeve serves as the lead planner for the 2025 King County Regional Hazard Mitigation Plan. In this role, she leads intergovernmental collaboration, engages the public to incorporate community perspectives, evaluates regional mitigation capabilities, and identifies opportunities to enhance policies, programs, and ordinances. Her work emphasizes integration across county plans to break down silos and build resilience throughout the region.
