Sean McGowan

Federal Emergency Management Agency (Former)

Sean McGowan is a licensed Professional Engineer with 16+ years of Federal service as a Civil/Structural Engineer, Earthquake Program Manager, and Multi-hazard Building Science Lead. He is (somewhat obsessively?) passionate about improving public safety through natural hazard mitigation, building code advocacy, and outreach. His specialty is communicating natural hazard risk, mitigation opportunities, and policy/funding solutions in a manner appropriate to the cultural and political situation of those he serves. He has worked domestically and internationally, with a specific emphasis on advocating for school safety in high hazard areas.
