Cultivating Ethics for Emergency Management
Networking Roundtable
Wednesday, June 17, 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. MDT
Location: Centennial E
In high-risk crisis environments, emergency management professionals have a duty to make careful, critical decisions grounded in ethics. The establishment of the Code of Ethics for Emergency Management Professionals in 2023 was a landmark event for the disaster risk management profession. As the field responds to an increasingly complex, diverse array of risks, there’s a need to further diffuse and integrate the code into practice. This roundtable invites participants to consider ways to incorporate ethics into the curriculum and classroom instruction for higher education and emergency management training programs. Attendees will discuss the importance of establishing clear conduct, principles, and values for the current and future emergency management workforce.
