Putting Community First When Building Resilience
Networking Roundtable
Sunday, June 14, 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. MDT
Location: Interlocken D
Every community has a distinct set of resources, challenges, and priorities. How can we engage people across sectors and build complex coalitions that aim to reduce disaster risk? To engage with this question, The Resilience Institute at Boise State University invites researchers and practitioners to this roundtable to participate in robust discussions about how communities at various scales work together to strengthen long-term resilience. We will use a Strengths Weakness Opportunities and Threats (SWOT) analysis to consider how growth and environmental stewardship, infrastructure and land use, institutional culture, and social and political factors influence holistic, community-first disaster resilience projects.
