Equitable and Resilient Design: Past and Present Infrastructure Challenges

Tues. 1:30 to 3:00 p.m., Interlocken C

How can we imagine equitable and resilient infrastructure design when so much of our existing infrastructure is in such dire need of repair?

Given recent advancements in resilient infrastructure design, communities have the opportunity to develop new and better codes and standards. Still, this is a costly endeavor and many questions remain regarding how to improve infrastructure in an era of widening economic inequality. Panelists will discuss pressing issues, such as aging infrastructure, the need to implement new design practices and policy, and mechanisms to make all communities safer from hazards and disaster.
