Mitigation Matters: Grassroots to National Efforts
Tue. 3:30 to 5:00 p.m., Interlocken B
What would it take to build a national movement focused on hazards mitigation, while still supporting local, grassroots mitigation champions?
Although the United States is making strides toward establishing a national mitigation strategy, much of the country’s disaster resources are focused on emergency response and recovery. Often times, disaster mitigation is a local, bottom-up process. Panelists in this session will examine how we can continue to encourage these grassroots efforts while promoting networks and institutional change that extend and embed best practices, new ideas, consistent funding streams, and promising partnerships.
