The past year was punctuated by record-shattering disasters—hurricanes, floods, wildfires, severe storms, drought, and more. This plenary session will take stock of what happened in communities across the nation that were devastated by these extreme events. Speakers will focus on what has driven disaster risk in affected areas, what was lost to these disasters, and what this past year of historic losses might teach us as we brace for an even more turbulent future.
