The Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030 was adopted by United Nations member states in 2015. In the years since, nations have worked to develop a series of indicators to measure progress with implementing the framework. This session will feature members of an international working group of the U.S. National Science and Technology Council Subcommittee on Disaster Reduction as well as other experts on measuring disaster losses. They will discuss the challenges faced in compiling U.S.-specific metrics and data sources. Panelists will also contrast the Sendai approach to measuring progress with other U.S.-based efforts to track losses and assess efficacy of mitigation solutions.
