Nankai Trough Earthquake Master Plan: Building Sustainability through Convergence
Wed. 8:30 to 9:30 a.m., Interlocken C
Reconstruction policies in Japan aim to restore social as well as physical infrastructure. Increasingly, leaders recognize that to build a sustainable society, new policies—rather than old conventions—are needed to respond to mega events that require a large-scale social transformation. In light of this growing need, researchers from multiple disciplines have converged to create the Nankai Trough Earthquake Master Plan. In this session, panelists will discuss their collective work in the areas of disaster scenarios, recovery governance, municipality administration, collaboration with civil society, economic sustainability, community resilience, and housing and urban planning.
