Plenary: Mobilizing Research to Encourage Equitable Disaster Recovery Programs and Policies
Wed. 11:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Interlocken A/B
Time and again, disaster researchers have documented disparities in disaster outcomes. These differences in disaster-related deaths, injuries, and recovery trajectories are driven by the social and economic inequalities that divide our communities during non-disaster times. But what can be done? This plenary session will highlight research, practice, and policy partnerships that characterize the location of socially vulnerable populations within various disaster-stricken communities, and then use that data and information to inform decision making and prioritization with post-disaster recovery funding.
