Homelessness, Housing Precarity, and COVID-19
Mon. 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. MDT
Lack of access to affordable housing has been the primary contributor to homelessness and housing precarity worldwide. Recently, the negative economic impacts of efforts to limit the spread of COVID-19 have worsened the homelessness crisis even further. Additionally, people experiencing homelessness face specialized challenges in pandemic response, such as how to socially distance or shelter in place. This session will focus on the issues faced by those experiencing homelessness and housing precarity during the COVID-19 pandemic, examples of positive pandemic responses and creative coping strategies, and insights about what we can do as researchers, practitioners, and policy makers to address the root causes of precarity and homelessness.
