From Spark to Smolder: Wildfires Across the Disaster Lifecycle
Monday, July 14, 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. MDT
Location: Interlocken B
The scale of recent firestorms is unprecedented. The Lahaina Fire in August 2023 was the deadliest in U.S. history, and the 2025 Los Angeles Fires were among the costliest. Millions of Americans are living with the threat of catastrophic wildfire—how will they and their communities adapt? This panel will explore a holistic, community-led approach to wildfire management through the disaster cycle. Speakers will share preventative measures to implement before fires spark, evacuation strategies to keep people safe as homes are threatened, and policies and practices to speed recovery and help communities build resilience once the flames are extinguished.
