Purpose and Pathways for More Impactful Natural Hazards Research

Research, Practice, and Policy Session
Wednesday, June 17, 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. MDT
Location: Centennial F

We are now living in an era where a disaster occurs somewhere in the world nearly every day. To reduce harm in a world where more people are affected by disaster, it is vital to draw on insights from interdisciplinary research. This panel will bring together experts from the North American Alliance of Hazards and Disasters Research Institutes to reflect on ways to strengthen connections between research, policy, and practice. Panelists will begin by sharing stories of successful projects and partnerships that have translated research into practical societal benefits. Then, the rest of the session will be spent in a community discussion to build tangible goals and proposed outcomes for future research-to-impact events. Your voice matters, come be a part of planning our future!
