Workshop Book Clubs

Start a Club and Get a Free Natural Hazards Workshop Registration

This year’s Natural Hazards Workshop will feature three concurrent Book Forums on Monday, July 11, from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. MDT. These forums will offer an opportunity for attendees to interact with the author of each book, hear from experts on related hazards and disasters, and engage with one another.

We want to encourage our Workshop participants to read one or more of the books with their colleagues or friends, so we’re offering a special opportunity for those who form their own Workshop Book Club! The first 50 groups of three or more people that contact us using the form below will receive one free individual registration to the 47th Annual Natural Hazards Workshop.

Tell us about your Workshop Book Club!

Just fill out the simple form by June 30, 2022 to let us know which book your club is reading and which member should receive the free registration. In return, we hope you will share about these great reads on social media, interact with our posts about your book club, and be ready, with cameras on, when we acknowledge you during the Book Forum.

As a reminder, here are the three books that will be highlighted at this year’s Workshop:

Underwater: Loss, Flood Insurance, and the Moral Economic of Climate Change in the United States
by Rebecca Elliott

Tales from an Uncertain World: What Other Assorted Disasters Can Teach Us About Climate Change
by L. S. Gardiner

Disasterology: Dispatches from the Frontlines of the Climate Crisis
by Samantha Montano

Please click on the links above for more information about each book and for ordering information from the publishers.

Happy reading to one and all!
