Key Moments and Methods for Wildfire Risk Messaging

Research, Practice, and Policy Session
Wednesday, June 17, 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. MDT
Location: Interlocken B

Effective risk communication requires an understanding of what motivates people to act and the barriers that can lead to inaction. This session will focus on lessons from the American Red Cross’s Fire Prevention and Safety project, which has gathered insights from people living with wildfire risk. With support from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, this project developed and tested wildfire messaging across the United States to gain insights on how to better reach diverse community members. This session will share actionable lessons to help people and communities better prepare for the wildfire threats they face.
