Inclusion and Empowerment in Disaster Risk Reduction

Reducing disaster risk and building resilience requires participation from all groups—including those with the least power and resources. This session will move beyond vulnerability frameworks to introduce new approaches for genuine inclusion and participation as well as novel strategies for representing disaster survivors. Panelists will discuss how to incorporate indigenous knowledge, diverse community partners, and new stakeholders into disaster risk reduction and resilience initiatives.
